Icelandic author Elías Snæland Jónsson was born in West Iceland. He studied journalism in Norway and has worked as a journalist ever since. Jónsson has written various novels for children and adults. He also writes plays and a German translation of 'Fjörbrot fuglanna', 'Vögel im Todeskampf' premiered in Theater Junge Generation in Dresden. Jónson received the Icelandic Children's Book Prize in 1993 for Deep in the Glacier. In 1999 it was
announced that Lords of the Sea had been placed
on the IBBY honor list for
the years 2000 - 2002.
